Wedlisted
Terms of Service
About these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Wedlisted, an online wedding gift list operated by OWLOPT (KvK 91652200) (“Wedlisted”, “we”, “us”), based in the Netherlands. By creating a list, or by contributing to one, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
What Wedlisted is
Wedlisted lets a couple publish a public list of cash goals for their wedding, and lets guests contribute money toward those goals. A goal is a line on the list with a title, an optional photo, and an optional target amount.
We provide the software and the list. We are not a bank, a payment institution, an escrow service, or a party to the gift between a guest and a couple. Payments are handled by Stripe, as described below.
How money moves
- Each couple connects their own Stripe account. When a guest gives, the payment is a direct charge on the couple's connected Stripe account, and the money settles straight to the couple.
- Wedlisted never holds your funds and is never in possession of the gift money. There is no payout for you to wait on from us.
- Wedlisted charges a small platform fee that is added on top of the gift and paid by the guest, so we never take a cut of the gift itself. At launch the fee is 3% of the gift, capped at €1 (or the equivalent single unit of the list's currency). Stripe's own payment-processing fee is estimated and added on top too; because Stripe's actual fee can vary slightly, a couple may net the gift amount plus or minus a small residual variance. We may change the fee in future; the fee in effect at the time of a contribution is the one shown to the guest before they pay.
- A list operates in exactly one currency, taken from the couple's Stripe account. Currencies are never mixed within a list.
- Goals can be overfunded: they keep accepting money past any target. A goal's contribution history is immutable; a goal that has received money can be archived (hidden) but not erased, so records and thank-yous stay accurate.
Couples: your responsibilities
- Your Stripe account. You must complete Stripe's onboarding before your list can accept money, and you must comply with Stripe's Connected Account Agreement and terms. Stripe performs identity verification (KYC) and is responsible for your payouts, refunds, and chargebacks, not Wedlisted.
- Accurate lists. You are responsible for the content of your list and goals being honest and lawful, and for the gifts being used broadly as your guests would reasonably expect.
- Your guests' data. When you receive a guest's name, message, and email to thank them, you agree to handle that information respectfully and only for that purpose.
- Taxes. You are responsible for determining and meeting any tax, reporting, or other legal obligations that apply to the money you receive. Wedlisted does not provide tax or legal advice.
- One account per wedding. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.
Guests: contributing to a list
- You do not need an account to give. You provide your name, email, an optional message, and the amount; your name, message, and amount are shared with the couple so they can thank you.
- A contribution is a gift directly to the couple, processed on the couple's Stripe account. Wedlisted is not the recipient of your gift.
- Gifts are non-refundable through Wedlisted. We do not hold the money and cannot reverse a gift. If you believe a contribution was made in error, contact the couple; any refund is a matter between you, the couple, and Stripe, subject to Stripe's processes.
- You must be legally able to make the payment and use only payment methods you are authorised to use.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Wedlisted to:
- break any law, or facilitate fraud, money laundering, or any deceptive or misleading fundraising;
- post content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful, or that you do not have the right to share (including photos);
- impersonate someone else, or collect money under false pretences;
- disrupt, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, or work around Stripe's or our security or verification.
We may suspend or remove a list, or an account, that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms or puts guests, couples, or our providers at risk.
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep Wedlisted available and reliable, but we provide the service “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may add, change, or discontinue features. Because payments run through Stripe, the availability of payments also depends on Stripe.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wedlisted is not liable for the gift relationship between guests and couples, for how couples use the money they receive, or for the acts or omissions of Stripe or our other providers. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, or for lost gifts caused by a couple's failure to complete Stripe onboarding.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Dutch or EU law, including your consumer-protection rights.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect and how we handle it. By using Wedlisted you also agree to that policy.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and any disputes will be subject to the competent courts of the Netherlands, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version here and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
